Ocean Density Currents

INVESTIGATION

Where is the world's tallest waterfall? It's not Niagara falls. Google tells you that it is Angel Falls.... but that's wrong. Angel Falls might be the tallest ON LAND, but to see the tallest waterfall in the world, you are going to need your scuba gear or submarine. The Denmark Strait cataract has water falling almost 3,505 meters (over 3x more than Angel Falls) and it all happens UNDER WATER! In class you are learning about density and how it plays a role in Sinking and Floating. Depending on their density, objects can sink or float in fluids (even if that object is another fluid). Today you are going to learn about how this simple concept is so important to the overall climate of our planet. For today's activity, you will need the following:

  • Internet Connection

  • Headphones / Earbuds
