It’s that time again. Time to wake up early, get on that bus, and start the next step in your academic life... seventh grade. It is a time of both excitement and concern.
You may be thinking: What will this year be like? Are my friends going to be in my classes? Is this year going to be easier or harder than last year? Are we going on any field trips? Is the Ski & Board Club coming back? What’s Mr. Racchini really like? Is it true that people call him JRac? Is it June yet?
Regardless of what you are thinking, the truth is we are back, and I’m
excited to help you through your next adventure in science: 7th grade Life Science! This year is going to be full of discoveries, weird facts, and “aha!” moments. You’ll learn how your body works, how living things interact, and why everyone might say that you like your mom or dad.
I know science isn’t always easy. Sometimes you’ll be scratching your head, wondering why a microscope has so many knobs, or why do traits skip generations or show up unexpectedly?
But here’s the secret: if you work hard and give it your best effort, you can achieve amazing things. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to know all the answers yet.
You just have to try.
That’s it. Effort is the magic ingredient that turns “I don’t get this” into “I totally nailed it!”
That’s a motto that I have always lived by and I hope to pass it along to you and every student that comes into my classroom. This class will challenge you to not only learn new knowledge, but also apply that knowledge to new situations. It will require effort on your part. I can assure you that I will always TRY to make this a positive and exciting year for you.

So bring your curiosity, your questions, and your best attitude. I’ll bring the experiments, the energy, and maybe a few science jokes that are so bad they’re good.
Let’s make this year unforgettable.
You’ve got this!
